The Education Liberator, Vol. 1, No. 3, November 1995

Separation Alliance in cyberspace

by Chris Cardiff

Separation enthusiasts are leading the way in promoting the Alliance in cyberspace. Unsolicited announcements on Internet newsgroups, articles from The Education Liberator in emailing lists, and new links to our web site appeared spontaneously during the last month. People are excited about our message and are passing it on!

Two electronic mailing lists, Altlearn and Home-ed-politics, have contributed to the national discussion on Separation by spawning a debate that has raged for weeks. Altlearn discussions focus on alternative learning with approximately 650 subscribers, many of whom are teachers.

Home-ed-politics is an emailing list with about 300 subscribers discussing political issues of interest to homeschoolers.

Without help from Separation supporters, the response would have been overwhelming. In particular, Le Sellers on Altlearn and Christina Pollina on Home-ed-politics played leading roles responding to critics. And Brian Christeson, Karl M. Bunday, Eric Anderson, and Dan Gerawan passed on the message of the Separation of School & State Alliance on email lists, Compuserve, and Prodigy forums.

A partial list of the cyberspace forums where the Separation Alliance debuted appears appears below. We need more Separation supporters to help identify new forums and participate in the discussions once initiated. And, if you're already participating in a forum, please let us know so we can share it. Send mail to if you can help.
